How Does Traxxas Self Righting Work?

Many Traxxas vehicles come with the innovative self-righting feature which helps you get the car right back on its wheels for more fun even if it turns over.

If your truck or vehicle has a lot of ground clearance, the center of gravity is resultantly high. Hence, with all the weight on board, it could only take letting off the throttle for your RC car to tumble over and crash land. Thankfully Traxxas realized how common this is and how annoying it is to have to manually right your RC car every time so they came up with self righting technology.

The Traxxas self righting works by simply hitting and holding the Set button on the transmitter.  When you hit and hold ONLY this Set button on the transmitter, you get the self-righting system of the car to swing into action.

Pushing this button pulses the motor forward and backward, and with the inertia generated by the car, the car is flipped back to its wheels. So, typically, the self-righting system is just the thing that makes it easy for your RC car to get back on track after it has been flipped over.

However, if you’re racing your RC car on a surface that is not very stable or flat, even the self-righting system may struggle to get your car back upright. When this is the case, the car may get unbalanced half-way through the process and unsystematically burst power through the drive-train. This can result in the car frantically spinning its wheels while it is laying on its side.

If you encounter this situation, you can simply hit the brakes to cancel the self-righting process and then go and set the car upright manually again.

Let’s look at some Traxxas vehicles that come with the self-righting feature. To see the most popular Traxxas RC cars currently available just click here.

With top-notch engineering, the X-Maxx is designed and prepared to offer top performance. The X-Maxx’s modular design ensures even more strength and makes it very easy to maintain this truck as well.

This new design is also responsible for how tough and powerful it is. Its new VXL-8s speed control is just what you need for smooth responsive performance and a rich feature set. The VXL-8s also provides real-time telemetry to the Traxxas Link app with the optional TQi Wireless Module. The wheelie bar which the X-Maxx includes also helps to prevent backflips under full-throttle acceleration and it flexes to absorb impact on landings that are not smooth.

A convenient handle supports your travel to your next destination.

The fully-featured Traxxas TQi 2.4GHz radio system provides precision, high speed, and control. Since it is Traxxas Link-enabled, you can include a module and use your smartphone to wirelessly connect it to the Traxxas Link app. On the app, you can adjust your settings for real-time telemetry.

E-Maxx Brushless

The Traxxas E-Maxx is designed with the Traxxas Stability Management (TSM) as well as self righting functionality. It is delivered fully-assembled and Ready-To-Race with the new TQi 2.4GHz advanced radio system with tuning features, MXL-6s waterproof brushless power system, tires already glued, a painted and decaled body, as well as detailed instructions.

The heavy-duty setup of E-Maxx provides very high torque and extreme acceleration to go with over 35mph of speed.

Traxxas Stability Management (TSM) gives you the whole experience of speed, extreme power, and acceleration making it a lot easier to control on common slippery surfaces like a dusty track, snow and ice or loose dirt. No need to worry if you punch it off the line.

The TSM will get right to work as it senses the vehicle’s direction and makes steering corrections to provide straight and full-throttle acceleration without any spinouts, fishtailing, or loss of control.

The Traxxas Stability Management also works during cornering, making intuitive corrections to help you stay on your line, and then letting you hit the throttle earlier so you can get way quicker exit speeds. As the Traxxas Stability Management works to keep you on a very straight track, you’re going to find that you have very improved braking until you reach a complete stop.

Plus, the new TQi 2.4GHz transmitter is completely adjustable: you can precisely set steering and throttle end points, and you can program the Multi-Function knob to control Throttle Sensitivity (Expo), Steering Sensitivity (Expo), Braking Percentage (Dual Rate), Steering Percentage (Dual Rate), or Throttle Trim.

Conclusion

Ultimately the Traxxas self righting feature works great to keep you from having to chase down your vehicle and manually flip it over every single time.

Sometimes if your Traxxas vehicle is on a slope or other rough terrain the self righting feature might not work properly but a majority of the time it works exactly like it is intended and will right your car.
