How Good Are Traxxas RC Cars?

The great thing about remote controlled cars is that there is a car out there for every type of user. From the kids who wants something to race with to the hardcore hobbyist adult with a bigger budget, there is an RC car out there for each person. There is a lot you need to know when buying an RC car, especially the higher-end models. For example, which are simple battery-powered and which are nitro-powered? Which are the faster RC cars? Which are just meant to be drift cars?

The most important question that you will probably want to know the answer to is whether certain brands are good brands or not. Specifically in this article we will be talking about Traxxas RC cars and if that brand of cars is a good one.

Traxxas is one of the best RC car companies on the market today. They make RC cars for a variety of budgets and all of them have great reviews online.  In general, Traxxas RC cars are a great choice whether you are just starting out or if you are a hobbyist looking for the best possible quality.

There are all kinds of different types of RC cars that specialize in different areas, such as being a rally car or a drift car or merely specializing in being the fastest remote-controlled car available.

RC cars were invented back in the late 1960s but even today after the advent of smartphones, streaming television services, and gaming consoles, RC cars are still popular. There is just something undeniable fun about racing a fast and fidgety little RC car around the house or down your street.

Some of the best Traxxas Models

Some RC enthusiasts are much more into this  hobby than others. This list of RC cars will cover a range of price points as well as RC cars that are meant for both on and off-road use.

Here are some of the best Traxxas RC cars along with all of the information you need to know about them.

Traxxas XO-1 Supercar

Pros:

  • It’s the fastest RC car ever made.
  • Stylish
  • Tweaking options

Cons:

  • It’s expensive
  • Requires iPhone 4 or higher for top speed
  • Not practical for everyday use.

The Traxxas XO-1  supercar is the fastest RC car currently available and it can hit 100+mph out of the box and can go even faster with some optional upgrades.

This vehicle is stylish and sleek, and it controls beautifully. The car hits 60mph in 2.3 seconds, and 100 mph in 4.92 seconds. For Traxxas to reach such speeds, it had to partner with Castle Creation to develop the Mamba Monster Extreme requirements of the XO- 1 so that it can fit inside the beautiful design. The custom motor is a mere few cubic inches. The TQi pairs with the Traxxas link app for strong tuning tools that can even be tweaked by someone else while you are driving for extreme precision.

Traxxas Slash 4X4 Brushless

Pros:

  • Awesome ProGraphix body
  • 4WD
  • TQ 2.4GHz radio
  • No gas required
  • 60+ MPH with stock rearing

Cons:

· Charger and battery not included.

The Traxxas Slash 4X4 has a lot of variations on the model, so there is something for everyone and at a variety of budgets as well. The brand new Traxxas Slash 1/10 scale 4WD short course truck is  an absolute monster. It’s excellent on all surfaces and don’t forget its powerful 3500 brushless  motor and waterproof VXL-3 electronic speed control. It’s an all-weather RC car that you’ll likely find yourself using the most out of all of your RC cars.

It also looks great with its ProGraphix short course truck body with color matching wheels. There are multiple color variants currently available and you can also get this model in 2WD, brushed, or with a variety of other options to lower or increase the price.

Traxxas Ford GT

Pros:

  • High speeds
  • Built brushless to handle extreme power upgrades
  • can use Traxxas’s 4WD 4-Tec 2.0 chassis

Cons:

  • Doesn’t come with both battery and charger
  • Expensive
  • Low top speeds of only 30 MPH

Due to the sleek look of the Ford GT, racing enthusiasts are not going to ever get enough of this RC car. Now you can bring that elegant looking RC car home with the Traxxas Ford GT 1/10 FWD. With an amazing looking shell the GT is a great option but with low top speeds it is more of a looker than a performance RC car.

This officially registered scale Ford GT uses the 4WD 4-Tec 2.0 chassis, and although it won’t hit the same speeds as the actual Ford GT, it looks just as cool. Also, it comes with aggressive street tires and with replica brake discs and calipers for ultimate realism.

You’ll also have no electronic issues if you drive it in the rain because it’s waterproof.

Traxxas TRX-4 Ford Bronco

Pros:

  • Official licensed Ford Bronco style body
  • High ground clearance
  • Waterproof electronics

Cons:

  • Charger and batteries sold separately
  • Some electronic issues reported by users
  • Top speed is pretty low for the price at only 30 MPH

The Traxxas TRX-4 Ford Bronco is a looker and looks exactly like the 1979 Ford Bronco but only smaller (obviously). If you love the look of those classic Broncos then this is the RC car for you. Despite the low top speed and the possible issues reported by some users this is a great RC car in general with very good reviews.

One huge downside to this model is the price. Since it is an officially licensed Ford style RC car then the price is higher than other similar cars that Traxxas makes with much better specs (the Slash for instance). If you love the look of the old Broncos then you can’t beat this RC car but if you are looking for the best performance for the price then you are better off looking at a different Traxxas model.

Conclusion

In general Traxxas RC cars are quite good with great quality and at affordable prices. For most people Traxxas is a brand that they can buy when just starting out and can upgrade the parts as the original ones break or as they have the money.

You can certainly buy RC cars that are cheaper than a Traxxas but the build quality of a Traxxas car is unmatched in the RC community and their cars won’t break the bank in most situations either.

The best way to know how good an RC car is is to read the reviews on places like Amazon so that way you can see what real owners are saying about these models and what issues they had that you should watch out for as well.
