Losi VS. Traxxas VS. Arrma, Which One Is Better?

Picking the best brand of RC car is difficult as Traxxas, Losi, and Arrma are all excellent manufacturers making choosing between them a tough exercise seeing as each brand offers a variety of RC vehicles, each having some really excellent features that make them stand out.

In general, Losi is better for racing and a better value. Traxxas is excellent for bashing, is more beginner friendly and has great customer support. Arrma vehicles are typically bigger and faster so they are better suited for more advanced users. 

Choosing the best manufacturer would really depend on your personal needs and preferences and which brand meets those needs. Honestly, all three brands have great models and you likely would be happy getting an RC car from any one of them.

The Traxxas Brand 

Established in 1986, Traxxas is a very innovative RC vehicle brand that has, over the decades, dominated the RC vehicle market, producing high-quality ready-to-run RC cars for both beginners and advanced racers alike. 

With a wide variety of models and being the pioneer producer of ready-to-run RC vehicles (a perfect option for beginners), Traxxas unarguably produces some of the best RC vehicles on the market.

Traxxas is the better choice for bashing

While the other brands we’re talking about in this article also produces high-quality vehicles, Traxxas is the best bet if you’re considering bashing (driving your vehicle for fun). 

Very popular for their 1/10 trucks and being the producers of the Stampede (found here), which is one of the world’s best selling RC cars, Traxxas has it all when it comes to producing RC cars that are tough and durable enough to withstand the beatings of bashing.

Traxxas is more beginner-friendly

We might as well mention it again that Traxxas produces cars that are excellent for bashing and this is the one thing that makes the brand beginner-friendly. Beginners always have to spend a lot of time bashing as they learn the ropes of RC racing, so, if you’re a beginner, you might want to consider getting a Traxxas. 

They produce most of the best entry-level cars, and they’re easy to use as well which is incredibly helpful for those just getting into the hobby. 

Traxxas has better aftermarket/ customer support

This is something else that makes the brand a very beginner-friendly one. Their customer support is top-notch and honestly, no other RC brand comes close when it comes to this aspect. 

If something goes wrong with your Traxxas RC, you can trust them to help you out if you call them. They would typically either be willing to give you clear instructions on how to fix it, sell you the exact parts you need, or even offer to fix it for you for a fee.

Losi, on the other hand, does not offer such great support and this is one of the reasons it may not be the perfect option for a beginner.

Traxxas has more technology

Traxxas seems to be more committed to having technological advancement for its RC cars. A lot of their cars come with electronic stability systems just like those found on modern cars, and there’s no doubt this technology is very effective.

If you compare this to the Losi brand, you will find that while Losi actually has some good innovations, they seem to be more interested in the quality of their car parts while focusing less on R&D.

Founded in 1988, the Losi brand seems to be a very good competition for the Traxxas brand. Producing vehicles that were of high appeal to enthusiasts, the brand grew quickly and has over the years, remained one of the best and most competitive RC brands.

Losi is a better option for racing

While we’ve already noted that Traxxas is the better choice for bashing, Losi beats Traxxas when it comes to racing. 

For starters, Losi tends to create their cars with more powerful motors and they are renowned for using brushless rather than brushed motors on most of their RC vehicles, unlike Traxxas which uses brushed motors a bit more often. You probably already know that brushless motors offer more performance, more speed, and they also last longer. 

So, if you’re looking for an RC vehicle that works perfect for racing, you might want to consider a Losi vehicle.

Losi offers better value for the price

Since Losi shows more commitment to making quality car parts, their cars tend to be a lot more durable especially the models made primarily for racing. For this reason, Losi cars offer more value for the price. 

You can trust a Losi model to last longer than a similar Traxxas model in many cases. Now, this doesn’t mean that Traxxas models are not durable, far from it. Losi just offers more durability.

Losis are harder to find

The downside of Losis is that they’re harder to find. You’re going to find that it’s easier to see other models at your local hobby shop than a Losi  model.

The Arrma Brand

Arrma and Traxxas have produced very similar cars. The Infraction and the XO-1, the Granite and the Stampede, the Kraton, and the E-revo are examples of similar cars from both brands even though they’re on different platforms. 

Most Arrma cars run on a 6s system out of the box, while most Traxxas cars run on a 3s system out of the box. But, Arrma offers just about the same speeds as Traxxas does. 

Arrma is better for experienced drivers 

Arrma generally produces bigger, faster and more powerful cars that may be better in the hands of an experienced driver than a newbie. As we’ve mentioned, if you’re a beginner who wants to bash, go for a Traxxas.
