The Drone Will Not Connect To The Controller

Have you ever owned a drone and had a problem with it connecting to the controller? Maybe you just purchased your first drone, and you cannot get the controller to connect right. Well, in this article we will go over everything you need to know about drones and how to connect them to the controller.

So why won’t the drone connect to the controller?

If your drone will not connect to the controller it may be caused by various reasons. The most common are that the batteries are dead, a manufacturing problem, or a problem with the drone or server itself.

Drones

A drone is an unmanned aircraft that can be controlled via remote or computer software. It is manufactured with different special features. One of the most important parts is the drone controller. Whenever a drone is flying in the sky, it’s very essential to control it. Drones are controlled via remote ground control systems (GSC). It also means a ground cockpit. In the overall design of a drone, it consists of two essential parts. One is the drone itself and another one is the control system. You can find the sensors and navigational systems in the nose of a drone. Through GPS you can track a drone and control via remote. The drone should be connected with the controller during flight. Sometimes though the drone will not connect with the controller.

Drone controllers

The drone controller controls a drone during flight. It transmits radio signals from the remote control to the drone. That signal tells the drone what to do. Radio signals are transmitted from the radio transmitter in the drone controller and received by the drone’s receiver. It controls the drone’s every motion including flight. For controlling flight, a drone has its flight controller. It’s in the brain of the aircraft. It detects movement of the drone and also the commands.

Problems in connecting the drone controller

The drone controller controls the drone during flight. Sometimes though, you may have problems connecting the controller to the drone. Below are the top reasons this might happen and how to fix it.

  • Battery problem

For controlling a drone, you need to connect it with your remote. For this, the battery is essential to provide the power supply. If the battery is good in quality and charged perfectly, then you can connect smoothly. Otherwise, your drone will lose the connection due to the power supply. This is why you need to make sure your batteries of the controller are fully powered. Try to use fresh batteries for the controller if yours are not working.

  • Manufacturing problem

A drone is designed with some special components. The drone controller circuit is much important in the functioning of a drone. If there is any problem with the circuit, then the controller will not allow the drone to connect. This is where you will need to make sure the controller circuit is good enough to connect to the drone. If there is any problem with the circuit, it may need to be replaced. Some drones have a warranty, and this should be checked first.

  • Problem with the drone

For connecting drones to its controller, both of the devices should be okay. If there is any problem with the drone, then you will not be able to connect it with the controller. So, make sure your drone is functioning perfectly. Turn off and on your drone and again as this will normally fix the issue. If it is still not working, then there will be some problem with your drone manufacturing.

  • Problem with the server

For controlling a drone, you should connect your remote controller and the server easily. USB cable is also sometimes needed to make the connection. If there is any problem with the software, then you will not be able to connect the remote controller with the server. So, make sure your server is perfect enough. You may need a manufacturer’s app. Install the app and try to connect. If there is any problem regarding USB cable, then unplug and plug it again if necessary. If the USB cable is damaged, then replace it with a good one.

  • Problem with functioning

Sometimes you can find your drone remote controller and server are okay. For some reason though, it’s not connecting with the controller. Then the problem may be with the operation of the controller. To fix this, you can turn off and on several times. It may help you to come out of the functioning problem.

Connect drone with the controller

Occasionally, a drone may lose its connection with the controller. If this happens, all you need to do is to simply reconnect it. Sometimes the connection cannot be established. If this happens, here are a few steps to solve the problem.

  • You can connect properly using drone manufacturer applications.
  • Pix4Dcapture can be used. It turns your consumer drone into a professional navigating tool. It allows you to create effective flight plans. Make sure the correct drone and camera are selected in the settings.
  • You can force quit your drone manufacturer’s app if necessary.
  • Make sure the USB cable is properly plugged-in between the controller and the server. Unplug and plug again and get the connection.
  • Restart the mission. You can close and force quit the app to do so. Disconnect the cable from the server. Turn off the controller and also the drone. Then switch on again and reconnect the cable as well as open Pix4Dcapture. Launch Pix4Dcapture on your android device following the Ctrl+plugin command.

If you find that your drone and controller are unpaired, then you can rebound your aircraft with the controller. You can do it using device buttons or by the “Starlink” app.

  • Using device buttons

Step-1: Turn off the remote controller of the drone.

Step-2: Turn on the UAV (unmanned air vehicle)

Step-3: Press and hold the remote control (RC) binding button for at least three seconds. Then the binding indicator will gradually flash green. It means your aircraft is ready to rebound.

Step-4: Push and hold the “home” and “power” button at the same time for a few seconds. When the binding is successful, the binding indicator will turn solid green.

  • Using the “Starlink” app

Step-1: Turn on the remote controller of the drone.

Step-2: Turn on the craft.

Step-3: Connect your server with the X-star premium. Install and start the “Starlink” app.

Step-4: Tap the binding icon and a sixty seconds timer will start.

Step-5: Press the RC binding button within sixty seconds. When the pairing is completed, the app will inform you of an “RC binding successful” message.

Conclusion

To fly a drone, the connection between the drone and the controller is a must. Sometimes though it will not connect with the remote controller. Now that you know what causes this problem and how to fix it, you have nothing to worry about in the future. You can even use this knowledge to help your friends if this happens to them.
