What Is RC Car Bashing?

If you are new to the world of RC cars or have recently heard about RC bashing and wondered what it is then you are in the right place. Most people seem to be quite confused and do not understand what RC car bashing means. Did you get your RC to do a job for work or to simply have some fun? It was likely just for fun as that is why most people get RC cars. That is exactly the meaning of RC car bashing.

In the world of RC cars, bashing simply refers to racing just for fun and without any rules or regulations. When you’re driving your RC car just to test it and see how far it can go, that’s bashing. If you take your RC car over jumps or challenge a friend to see who’s car is faster than you are bashing. Racing and bashing are virtually identical with the only real difference being the lack of rules for bashing.

Every person who has ever used an RC car has been a basher at some point or another, even though some racers claim to have never bashed. Since racing is simply bashing with rules then even the strictest RC racers have probably had an impromptu race with no rules which means they have been bashing.

When people hear the word bashing they might think of a demolition derby style even where you try to bash your RC car into something but that would be incorrect as that is not the definition of RC bashing at all.

What’s the difference between bashing and racing, really?

To know more about bashing you need to know what makes it different. Is there really any difference between RC racing and RC bashing? Read on to see those differences.

Racing

The main difference between racing and bashing is that racing has rules. In racing, you’re actually competing for the win with a number of other racers. Racing would normally have you employing tactics, skill, and intelligence just to make the finish line before anyone else does. Racing is a serious business, unlike bashing, where you just do your own thing for fun.

Bashing

As we’ve already noted, bashing is not a serious business, and really anything goes. No one’s watching to see how much skill you’re going to use, and certainly, no one’s watching to declare you the winner. You’re the master of your own game when you’re bashing, so you do not have to play by any rules. It’s okay to make high jumps and wreck your car if that makes you happy. Bashing is all about having fun and seeing what you can do with your RC car. Sometimes there might be some friendly competition but bashing isn’t about winning at all, it is about using your car to have as much fun as possible.

What to keep in mind when choosing an RC basher?

There are important qualities that an RC has to possess to be good enough for bashing. Considering the fact that you might be putting the car in really rugged situations, you should make sure it will handle well under the stress.

A good RC basher will be able to handle all kinds of terrain without breaking or getting damaged and will also not have issues with going over jumps or swerving around obstacles. For RC bashing top speed isn’t the end all like it is for racing but it is nice to have an RC car that can go quite fast.

Sturdiness

This is certainly one of the most important things to look out for in a basher. Seeing as you are probably going to be throwing the car around, your basher must be sturdy enough to withstand any kind of rough handling. Now, of course, this doesn’t mean you have to buy a tank or anything, but it’s a lot better if the car has sufficient front and side protection.

Ground clearance

It is also important for RC bashers to, at least, have some amount of ground clearance if you really want to have the best time bashing. On average, your basher will be navigating through some jagged grounds and sandy landscape. If you know you’re going to be racing through terrains that are not asphalt, you should get an RC car that has as much ground clearance as possible.

Price

It is also important for bashers to be affordable both in the purchasing process and in subsequent maintenance. Considering that bashers are seen as less prized than racers and, as such, are the best for beginners, it makes sense that they should also be affordable. It’s not a very good decision, as a beginner, to spend a ton of money on a car you’re going to bash. Plus, seeing as you are very likely going to be treating your basher roughly, they should have spare parts that are both abundant and cheap because you may need to use replacements very often if you are rough on your car.
