Are Dynam RC Planes Any Good?

If you are in the market for an RC plane you have likely come across those that are made by Dynam and wondered if they are any good. Knowing whether a specific make or model of an RC plane is good is difficult since being “good” is quite subjective but in this article we will try to answer that question.

There are many good things about Dynam RC planes. Their wide selection of product models fulfills the needs of hobbyists as well as kids. They also fulfill customer’s needs by providing the best looking and quality RC Planes at decent prices.

Dynam RC planes represent a great value in RC model planes for the beginner and also for intermediate pilots. Dynam’s ready to fly models include everything in the box to PNP scale warbirds, Civil Aircraft and EDF Jets, Dynam produces amazing high-quality RC airplanes to fit virtually any budget.

All of the different RC plane models from Dynam come with all the latest features since the main goal of Dynam is to provide more reliable, high-performing and built to last planes. Some RC models come with unique features as well like energy-efficient motors, electronic retractable landing gear systems, powerful brushless outrunner motors, and pre-installed EDFs.

Best RC planes made by Dynam

There are a lot of different RC planes models available from Dynam but there is always something that is more important to some people so we will look at some of those features that their planes offer.  Dynam also has some of the best RC planes that help make their brand unique. Whether a brand is good or bad almost always depends on its product and the same is true with Dynam.

There are a few things to consider when looking for a new RC plane:

  • Build quality and materials
  • Battery life and charging time
  • Control range
  • Reliability

In the next section we will discuss a few different RC planes that Dynam offers and what features they have that makes the brand good.

Dynam HawkSky V2

The HawkSky V2 is essentially a powered glider and is constructed from a durable EPO foam. The HawkSky V2 is one of the best flying planes for beginners on the market and one of the reasons is the HawkSky V2 is made with the crash resilient EPO foam.

This model also comes with:

  • Powerful Dynam Speed 400 brushless motor.
  • Controlled by a Dynam 30A Brushless Electronic Speed Controller.
  • Smooth takeoffs and landings because of the fixed landing gear.
  • Lightweight and durable
  • Comfortable for beginners

This plane is a little bit on the short side in regards to flight time at only 10 minutes and also requires assembly and some additional items to be fully functional so it isn’t ready to fly out of the box.

Dynam 310 Grand Cruiser V2

The Dynam 310 is a twin motor airplane made with EPO foam. The EPO foam is some of the most crash resistant material on the market (as mentioned above) so that helps in making this model quite durable. The Dynam Grand Cruiser has a great scale-look and details and when the gear is retracted, it looks like the real deal too.

Some other features of this specific Dynam plane are:

  • Powered by two preinstalled powerful 2815-1100kv brushless motors.
  • Made of EPO, Durable and lightweight.
  • Factory Installed XT60 on ESC.
  • Compatible with beginners.

One huge pro to this model is that it comes with everything that you need to run out right out of the box. All you have to do is assemble it and you are ready to fly!

Dynam Waco YMF 5D

The Dynam Waco YMF 5D is a classic RC plane model. This is the best choice if you like the 1930s airplane models.

Some of the features include:

  • Powered by Powerful TomCat 3720 brushless motor.
  • Detrum MSR66A 6CH 2.4Ghz Receiver with iStone 6-Axis Gyro.
  • Suitable for professionals and beginners level pilots.
  • Durable and lightweight.
  • Made with EPO foam.
  • Flight performance is awesome.
  • LED driver and LED installed.

Like the first model mentioned this one will also need additional items to be purchased with it so you are able to use it so that can be quite frustrating for beginners. To see what else you need to purchase you can check out this link here

How is Dynam Build Quality

Build quality is a major factor especially when it comes to RC planes because there is a huge chance to crash if anything goes wrong when you are using it.

First things first, Dynam RC planes are made with EPO foam. What is EPO foam? EPO is a lightweight and durable foam material that is generally used in the RC hobby model planes and children’s toy industry.

EPO also is known as EPP and it is well proven as a highly durable material for RC planes. EPP is lightweight yet capable of flexing and returning to its given shape. Squeeze it, punch it and you will not dent it.

Some advantages of EPO:

  • As we know it is lightweight and durable
  • EPO has a much better surface finish than even perfectly molded EPP and EPS, meaning a glossier and more aerodynamic surface.
  • Glues and paints are important to build an RC plane and EPO is compatible with a wide range of glues and paints.
  • EPO does not need pre-expansion.

As I said the majority of Dynam RC planes are made with EPO foam that means Dynam build quality is quite good. Another thing to notice that is EPO is lightweight and for an RC model, it is very important. So it can be said Dynam RC planes build quality is good.

Are Dynam’s BEC and ESCs any good?

BEC means a Battery eliminator circuit. It’s designed to deliver electrical power to other circuitry without the need for multiple batteries. BEC allows models to carry only one battery instead of two batteries. In the old days people would have to use 5-6 batteries but nowadays a single battery will work most of the time.

Sometimes RC planes will use two batteries but that is to increase the flight time and not because they have to. So it is good to use BEC technology.

ESC is another technology that is used in remote control airplanes. Suppose you are flying your airplane and its battery suddenly ran out then what will happen? It would crash instantly.

ESC meant for airplane use often incorporates a low-voltage-cutoff circuit which can sense the voltage drop caused when the battery has very little charge left in it. It then cuts the power to the ‘drive’ motor in order to provide the ‘steering’ servo with enough power to be able to bring the model safely back to the operator. The power to the propeller would be cut but the operation of the control surfaces would be maintained in order to perform a dead-stick landing. Without this feature, all control would be lost when the battery ran dead.

So the use of BEC and ESC technology is good and necessary for RC models.

Conclusion

In general Dynam RC planes are relatively good models but there are some downsides such as not coming with everything needed for them to work (with some models). It is important to read lots of reviews about the different model planes that you are considering so if the Dynam model you are looking at doesn’t have very many reviews you are probably better off to go with an RC plane with many reviews for you to look at.
